Attic Spray Foam Insulation
Upstairs bedrooms that run hot, an air conditioner that never quite shuts off, ice building along the eaves in January. Those all point at the attic. The real question is where the insulation belongs: down on the attic floor, or up along the roof deck in an unvented assembly. That one answer changes the entire job, and it often turns on whether the ductwork and air handler are up there. When they are, bringing the attic inside the conditioned space is frequently worth the extra cost, because the equipment stops fighting attic air that runs far hotter than anything outdoors. Either way the target is the applicable code level, commonly R-49 to R-60, and the attic ends up either properly vented or deliberately inside the envelope. What it cannot be is halfway between the two.
